Sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology and the Child Neurology Society, this esteemed prize is granted to high school students whose talent in the sciences “indicates potential for significant contributions in the neuroscience field,” according to the Southern Westchester BOCES Office of Public Information.
Sabrina is involved in the OHS Science Research Program and has dedicated the last two years to gene investigations and possible drug treatments. Her research is focused on mitigating the impact that aging has on brain functioning.
Sabrina’s research was performed at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and can help to pave the medical road for dementia and Alzheimer’s patients in the future.
The recipient of the research prize will be determined by a panel of physicians and scientists involved in the neurosciences field. In total, four prize winners will be selected through two separate competition rounds.
Sabrina said that she is thankful to her Mount Sinai mentors for the opportunity to carry out her research.
